  • Call for Abstracts
    This serves as the official Call for Abstracts for the 5th Annual Conference of the Alliance for Sport Business. This year’s conference will be hosted by the College of Business at Ohio University, taking place in Athens, Ohio, March 22-23, 2015.

    Submission themes need to be relevant to Sport Business academic programs housed in Business Schools.

    Suggested topics:

    o   Strategies for sport business programs transitioning into accredited business schools

    o   Developing and engaging external stakeholders and advisory boards into sport business programs

    o   Assurance of learning models related to sport business programs

    o   Recruiting and development of terminally qualified sport business programs faculty

    o   Promotion and tenure process of sport business programs' faculty in schools of business

    o   Developing and integrating sport analytics with sport business programs

    o   Challenges and issues of experiential learning and internships in sport business programs

    o   Best innovative practices of sport business programs in schools of business (teaching, curricular, experiential and professional practice learning)

    With more than 300 Business Schools worldwide featuring a sport business program in some form, the Alliance for Sport Business has been growing and continues to assist colleagues and the field of sport business education in this new era.
  • Dr.DavidFinchDr. David Finch, Keynote Speaker of the 5th Annual Conference of the Alliance for Sport Business

    Dr. David Finch’s professional background reflects a commitment to the convergence of theory and practice. David holds a PhD in management and is an active educator, scholar and practitioner. David holds several academic appointments including Associate Professor at Mount Royal University’s Bissett School of Business in Calgary, Alberta, and Visiting Fellow at both the Henley Business School in the United Kingdom and Walden University in the US.

    David’s research interests focus on exploring the empirical link between stakeholders and organizational performance. Based on his research and breadth of experience, Dr. Finch is the founder and Chair of the Business School Research Network (BSRN) - a network of senior researchers from 16 North American business schools focused at examining the empirical performance of business schools. In the past five years, David has authored over 50 scholarly papers and published in journals such as the Journal of Business Ethics, the Journal of Marketing Education, the Corporate Reputation Review and the International Journal of Management Education. In addition, David has published articles in the Globe & Mail, Marketing Magazine and the National Post.

    Prior to joining academia, Dr. Finch held progressively senior corporate and agency roles including being a founding partner at TrojanOne, Canada’s largest sports and sponsorship marketing agency. This professional background includes supporting brands such as Bell Canada,, Rogers Communications, Esso, Harris Corporation, Hudson’s Bay, BC Ferries, The Calgary Stampede and Yellow Pages.
