The ASB was founded in 2011 to meet the needs and issues with the growing number of Sport Business Programs in accredited schools of business. The ASB philosophy is to create a collegial professional environment by sharing innovative and best practices in the areas of the assurance of learning models, curriculum, faculty teaching and intellectual development along with creating high-quality professional industry engagement opportunities.
Our international organization represents programs based in Schools of Business accredited by one of the following agencies: the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business – AACSB, the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs –ACBSP, the European Foundation for Management Development Quality Improvement System — EQUIS, and the International Assembly of Collegiate Business Education- IACBE. Full membership is open to sport business programs currently in accredited business schools. Associate membership is open to sport management programs based in business schools in a formal process of obtaining one of the designated business school accreditations or those sport management programs not currently housed in their accredited business schools, but are in a formal transition process of relocation to their business schools. Individual membership is also open to individual professors who teach in a sports business program.
The Alliance for Sport Business is committed to increasing the academic excellence, the high-quality intellectual contributions to the academy along with preparing high-quality graduates to the sport, recreation and entertainment industries. We look forward to working with our faculty, deans and industry stakeholders to create an impact on existing and emerging areas of education and business.
